Confirming that we are doing this ride today! It may be a bit windy and the roads may be damp, but there is a low probability of additional rain.

Due to 100% chance of rain at the time of the ride start in Harwood, Maryland, today's ride is cancelled. We will do this another time! The weather map shows wet weather south of Baltimore, even though it does not look bad at my house just North of Baltimore. Weather looks more favorable North and West of Baltimore.

With the Corn Roast rides cancelled, I added Gary Brandon's PA Flatlands ride for Saturday morning. I will keep an eye on the weather and make a go/no-go decision by 7 am Saturday morning. Please advise if anyone knows of road issues on the route.

Advertised as a 10-12 ride, but all are welcome.

Confirming that this ride is on - It's dry now and chances for a storm increase early in the afternoon when the ride should be wrapping up. Bring plastic bags to keep your phones dry just in case!

New ride added for those not on the KCSF... fingers crossed that the improved weather forecast holds out.

Ride Start Parking Issue
Forum: Road Problems

Club members may recall that in July 2017 there was a kerfuffle over parking at Utica Park resulting in stern signs being posted about parking being restricted to park patrons with the threat of citations and towing for violators. Folks may recall that the root cause may have been the coincidence of a ride that I led coinciding with a PPTC ride that crowded the parking lot where the cluster of potties is located. While in Thurmont today on CWC business, we checked out the park and that unwelcome signage is still prominently posted. We also took note that there has been a significant expansion of the park, with both new fields and more parking available.

Within the BBC, do we have any Frederick County taxpayers that could encourage some detente with the county park system that would allow us to use the park as a ride start location again? The park is a desirable start location with its central location and abundant potties. Perhaps we could negotiate some coordination so that we don't have the coincidence of two local clubs hosting a popular ride on the same day agian. Any volunteers?

Just a few BBC members have shared event pics on the BBC FaceBook page. We would love it if members would share any snaps that they might have trapped in their phones. Either share them on FB or drop a pointer to your digital cloud here.

Ed Cahill posted links to the cue sheet itself and the in the comments for the ride listing. Craig crafted a route with a lunch stop at mile 39.9, before Boonsboro, and a number of other rest stops are noted along the route to compensate for the event rest stops, which are not available.

The CWC Volunteer Century ride start on Sunday 8/27 has been changed to 8 am. Also, Ellen Hochnman will be the ride leader and provide cue sheets. Note that there is link posted on the ride description.
